SLFH volunteers Jacob Kam and his mom Betty Lou Kam were interviewed in an article on Aloha State Daily this week. They shared their experience and explained what our theme of “Many Rivers, One Ocean” means to them:

“…Jacob and I, we actually stand at the coastline and light lanterns. When you’re standing there, you feel like you’re part of the ocean of people. It’s an incredible feeling, because we’re all sharing the same feeling.”

“You’d call that a chicken skin kind of moment,” he added.

Read the article to find out more about the Kams’ experience. Mahalo to Aloha State Daily for the write-up, we’re always glad for people to learn about the efforts of our dedicated volunteer ʻohana.

If you’re interested in volunteering, send us a message. We are all filled up for prep and day-of event volunteering, but we can always use help with lantern cleaning after the event, starting on Saturday, May 30.
