Take Part in the Ceremony

Submit an Online Remembrance

Online remembrance submissions for the 2025 ceremony are now closed.

If you submitted a remembrance, it has been floated by a volunteer on the canoes during the ceremony on a Collective Remembrance Lantern.

Check back next year to submit a remembrance for the 2026 ceremony!

Even if you are unable to be at Ala Moana Beach during the ceremony, no matter where in the world you are, you can still submit an online remembrance for a loved one.

Your remembrance will be transcribed and affixed to the wood-framed Collective Remembrance Lanterns and floated by volunteers at the ceremony.

Online submissions received through April 30 will be hand-transcribed by volunteers. Submissions received after that date will be printed. All messages received by Sunday, May 25, 2025 11:59 p.m. will be affixed to a Collective Remembrance Lantern and floated from canoes by volunteers during the ceremony on your behalf.

Please note: submitting a message here does not mean that you are reserving an Individual Lantern for the day of the ceremony.

If you reside in Hawaiʻi or near a Shinnyo-en temple or training center, we encourage you to personally handwrite your remembrances in person.
