Her Holiness Shinso Ito's announcement on the cancellation of Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii 2020

Alternate observance of Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi 2020

Due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi 2020 ceremony that would have been held at Ala Moana Beach on May 25, 2020 was observed as an hour-long program that aired on Hawaii News Now’s KGMB and streamed simultaneously on this website and related social media accounts on May 25, 2020.

The program was held in remembrance of the military’s fallen and loved ones who have passed. With a spirit of hope and positivity, we also acknowledge the countless acts of compassion and heroism expressed as the world continues to navigate the challenges and effects of the global pandemic.

Everyone is still welcomed to submit remembrances, commitments to positive action, and upload images through this website. Shinnyo-en Hawaii holds a monthly “Merit Transfer” service. Your submissions will be placed on the altar of the temple and will be included in the prayers that are offered to those who have laid a foundation for our lives.
